The
Aircraft
The aircraft began life as a factory built
Pitts S2S, however, Jim's aggressive flying style soon took it's toll and
significant modifications became necessary. The wings were disassembled and
rebuilt, this time heavily fortified to withstand the high g-loading.
The propeller was replaced with a custom composite prop to allow Jim to safely
perform the gyroscopic maneuvers that he has become noted for. The aircraft's
fuel and oil systems were extensively modified, and a 400 HP engine was bolted
on by one of Jim's sponsors - Ly-Con Aircraft
Engines. The aircraft re-emerged as the "Bulldog".
